What Work is Taking Place?

As early as Thursday, February 10, 2022, a new traffic configuration will be implemented at Bayview Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East. Traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will shift to the north side of the street, and construction will move to the south. The northbound right turn will be restricted at the intersection. The dedicated eastbound left turn lane will be reinstated, while the eastbound right turn will be restricted. The westbound right turn will reopen.

One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Bayview Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East. This traffic configuration will remain in place for approximately four (4) months.

Significant traffic and pedestrian changes will be in effect.

What to Expect

Road deck removals, utility reinstatements, and road restoration works will take place on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East. The staging area east of the intersection, between Bayview Avenue and Bessborough Drive, will remain in place for the duration of this traffic stage. Overnight noise can be expected, while the traffic changes are being implemented. Concrete barriers, fencing, and wayfinding signage will be in place to delineate the work zones. Traffic control personnel and/or a Paid Duty Officer will be present, while the traffic changes are being implemented. Expect delays while travelling through the intersection.  

HOURS OF WORK

  • As early as Thursday, February 10, 2022 for approximately four (4) months  
  • Overnight work may be required to implement the new traffic configuration 
  • This configuration may be in place shorter or longer than expected 
  • This work my be rescheduled due to inclement weather and/or unforeseen circumstances  

TRAFFIC DETAILS

  • Traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will shift to the north side of the street 
  • The northbound right turn from Bayview Avenue onto Eglinton Avenue East will be restricted.
  • The dedicated eastbound left turn lane will be reinstated, while the eastbound right turn will be restricted
  • The westbound right turn will reopen.
  • Traffic on Bayview Avenue will remain on the west side of the street.
  • One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Bayview Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East.

PEDESTRIAN DETAILS

  • The crosswalk on the east side of the intersection will remain closed; all other crosswalks will remain open.
  • The sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East, east of Bayview Avenue will be closed.
  • A temporary walkway will be installed south of the closure, around the Main Entrance site, to maintain pedestrian access (refer to map).
