What work is starting?

What: Crews will continue constructing the east and west headwalls for the future Bayview Station in advance of the tunnelling works.  On the east side of Bayview Avenue, crews will be shifting construction to the middle lanes on Eglinton Avenue East. On the west side of Bayview Avenue, crews will be shifting construction to the south side of Eglinton Avenue East.

Why are crews going back to the south west side?  Necessary sewer repair as well as additional hydro relocation work had to be completed prior to starting headwall construction on the west side of Bayview Avenue. Crews are now shifting to the final configuration to complete work on the east and west headwalls.

When: Work will begin as early as late-February, 2016 and will continue for approximately 2 – 3 months.

Some work may be rescheduled or adjusted due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

Where: The work zone will extend from approximately west of Mann Avenue to west of Bessborough Drive along Eglinton Avenue East. During this stage of construction:

  • West of Bayview, the work zone will occupy the south lanes on Eglinton Avenue East.
  • East of Bayview, the work zone will occupy the middle lanes on Eglinton Avenue East.

Traffic Details:

Traffic along Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one lane in each direction with designated left turning lanes.

West of Bayview: traffic will be shifted to the north side of Eglinton Avenue East.

East of Bayview: traffic will be shifted to the eastbound and westbound curb lanes of Eglinton Avenue East around the work zone.

Further Details:
