WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?
Guideway construction and bridge rehabilitation continue on Eglinton Avenue East at Wynford Drive. On October 9 and 10, 2019, crews will be shifting the north staircase back to its original location at the bridge. The relocation will require a temporary change to traffic alignment on Wynford Drive (depicted below) to accommodate the crane setup area.
TIMING
• North staircase relocation will occur on Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10, 2019.
• Work is expected to occur from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven (7) days per week, Monday through Sunday.
• The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled or extended due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
WHAT TO EXPECT
• The pedestrian staircase on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East at Wynford Drive will be shifted back to its original location, approximately one (1) meter west.
• Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone. As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
• One southbound and northbound lane will be maintained on Wynford Drive under Eglinton Avenue East.
• Construction zones may require adjustments once implemented – updated notices will be distributed in the case of any changes.
PEDESTRIAN AND TTC IMPACTS
• The westbound TTC stop on Eglinton Avenue at Wynford Drive will be closed for the duration of the work. The next available westbound stop on Eglinton Avenue is located at the Don Valley Parkway, east side.
• The southbound TTC stop on Wynford Drive will be shifted north away from the work zone.
• The south pedestrian staircase will remain open.
• Adjustments to pedestrian routes may be required as work progresses. Pedestrian rerouting around work zones is done to protect the safety of pedestrians. Detours will be clearly marked with signage to direct pedestrians to the alternate routes.
