Overnight Lighting Installation at the Elevated Guideway - September 16 & 17, 2020

What Work is Taking Place?

Overnight on Wednesday September 16 and Thursday September 17, crews at Black Creek Drive will be installing lighting under the elevated guideway. The installation will take place in two phases. Phase one will be overnight and require a northbound closure of Black Creek Drive, north of Eglinton Avenue West, on Wednesday September 16. Traffic travelling northbound on Black Creek Dr will be required to turn eastbound or westbound at Eglinton Ave W. During the daytime, the northbound lanes will reopen. Phase two will also be overnight and require a southbound closure of Black Creek Dr, north of Eglinton Ave W, on Thursday September 17. During the daytime, the southbound lanes will reopen.

What to Expect

On Wednesday September 16, crews will close the northbound lanes on Black Creek Drive, north of Eglinton Avenue West overnight. On Thursday September 17, crews will close the southbound lanes on Black Creek Drive, north of Eglinton Avenue West overnight. Overnight lighting and noise from construction equipment can be expected.

HOURS OF WORK

• Crews will be working overnight, from as early as 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., for both nights
• Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances
• The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion
• This work may take longer or shorter than expected

TRAFFIC DETAILS

Phase One (Wednesday, September 16)

• Traffic travelling northbound on Black Creek Drive will be prohibited from going straight through the intersection. Traffic will need to turn eastbound or westbound upon reaching Eglinton Avenue West.
• Traffic travelling southbound on Black Creek Drive will not be affected
• Left turns onto Black Creek Drive will be restricted for traffic travelling eastbound on Eglinton Avenue West
• Right turns onto Black Creek Drive will be restricted for traffic travelling westbound on Eglinton Avenue West
• Advanced notifications will be provided to inform the traffic of the northbound closure.

Phase Two (Thursday, September 17)

• Traffic travelling northbound on Black Creek Drive will not be affected
• Traffic travelling southbound on Black Creek Drive will be prohibited from going straight through the intersection
• Traffic travelling eastbound and westbound will not be affected
• Southbound lanes on Black Creek Drive will be closed between Todd Baylis Boulevard and Eglinton Avenue W.
• Advanced notifications will be provided at Black Creek Drive and Lawrence Avenue W and at Black Creek Drive and Trethewey Drive.

PEDESTRIAN DETAILS

• All current pedestrian restrictions will remain in place
• Access to businesses and properties will be maintained

TRANSIT INFORMATION

• TTC bus routes will be accommodated and service will not be affected
