Crews are installing a new sanitary sewer system along Eglinton Avenue West between Chaplin Crescent and Latimer Avenue.  As part of this work, diversion of the existing sanitary sewer service line is required on several occasions over the course of the work.  Diversion work involves cutting into the existing sanitary sewer pipe and temporarily diverting the flow of sewage while the new sanitary sewer infrastructure is installed.

To minimize the public’s exposure to the odour of sewage, and to provide safe conditions for workers, diversion work will be completed overnight.

Overnight diversion work will take place the weekend of January 12 – 14, 2018.

  • January 12 – 14, 2018, 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM (overnight).
  • Crews will work diligently to minimize the duration of each overnight shift.
  • Work may be delayed due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

  • The odour from sewage may be present while crews perform diversion work.
  • Noise and dust from construction equipment and vehicles can be expected.
  • Site lighting can be expected.
  • Truck traffic entering and exiting the work zone can be expected.
  • Equipment and material storage within the work zone can be expected.

  • Overnight work to complete the sewer diversions will be required approximately 15 times (one night each) over the course of the new sanitary sewer system installation.
  • The sewer is being installed within the existing work zone, and diversion works will also occur within the existing work zone.
