Crews will replace a sewer line at the intersection of Oakwood Avenue and Eglinton Avenue. A portion of the work will take place within the existing construction site. The work outside of the existing construction zone will be completed overnight to minimize disruption to traffic, pedestrians and TTC services. Work will be completed in three (3) stages to further minimize disruption.

Hours of Work / What to expect

  • Work on Eglinton Avenue will occur between 11pm and 7am.
  • Work will begin as early as January 24th, 2018 and take approximately one (1) week to complete.
  • Timelines are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained.
  • Eglinton Avenue and Oakwood Avenue will be open, however traffic at the intersection will be maintained by Paid Duty Police Officers.
  • Traffic may be delayed in the area during the permitted work hours.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

More Information About Sewer Lining Installations (Next Phase)

  • Once overnight replacement work is completed, the next stage of work of re-ling existing sewers will begin.
  • Crews will insert a liner into the sewer from within the maintenance holes. Pipes will be visible between maintenance holes to bypass pump around the sewer lines during the liner installation. Additional details for the lining operations will be shared prior to work beginning.
  • Due to the nature of the work, an unpleasant chemical odour may be noticeable in the vicinity of the maintenance holes and, in some circumstances, in the home. It is not harmful and this can be limited by covering floor drains while the sewers are being re-lined.
  • There may be short durations during the work when local residents will be advised to refrain from water usage. To reduce impacts, water interruptions will occur overnight and notice will be provided 24 hours in advance to residents directly affected by the water interruption.
  • Residents near the work site can expect to hear vacuum trucks, pumps, trucks and other construction equipment.
