What is the Crosstown?
Metrolinx is building the Eglinton Crosstown, Toronto’s new 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue with a central 10 km underground section. The Crosstown will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and the new service will be up to 60% faster than the bus service today. With 25 stations and stops and connections to 3 TTC subway stations, 54 local bus routes, 3 GO Transit lines and the UP Express, the Crosstown will improve travel times and change the way we move through the heart of the city.
Overnight Temporary Traffic Signal Installation and Testing at Forest Hill Station
What Work is Taking Place?
Temporary traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue West to accommodate upcoming construction activities at the future Forest Hill Station.
Crews will cut the concrete at the four corners of the intersection, use a hydro-vacuum to excavate the area, and then install the temporary traffic poles and signals. The temporary signals will be bagged. Traffic signals and wires will be hung overhead, while the existing traffic poles are removed. Following installation, the temporary signals will be tested. Once testing is complete, overhead signals will be taken down, bags will be removed and the new temporary traffic signals will come into effect.
Please note that the ongoing utilities relocation on the south side of Eglinton Avenue West will continue concurrently with this activity.
Timing
- Temporary traffic signal installation will take place overnight for period of approximately ten (10) days, beginning Sunday September 18, excluding Friday and Saturday nights
- Permitted hours are 8:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
- The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion
- This work may rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances
What to Expect
- Nearby residents may experience noise caused by a hydro-vacuum, trucks and other construction equipment

- The pedestrian rerouting on the south side of Eglinton Avenue West will remain in effect
TTC Details
- To accommodate ongoing work at Forest Hill Station, one TTC bus stop on the south east corner of Eglinton Avenue West and Bathurst Street has been relocated approximately 90 meters to the north. The stop services the following TTC bus route:
o

- Please look for signage informing passengers of the new temporary stop locations
