What Work is Taking Place?

Crews will install water infrastructure, including a watermain, in support of infrastructure upgrades at the future Kennedy Station on Transway Crescent just south of the South Service Road. Crews will relocate an existing watermain on Eglinton Avenue East just east of Kennedy Road. Work is limited to installation of infrastructure. No connection will be made to existing watermain on Transway Crescent. Connections will be completed at a later date.

Hours of Work

  • Beginning on Monday, October 30th, 2017 and performed over approximately 12 consecutive nights until November 10th from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • The contractor(s) may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at their discretion.
  • This work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • In an effort to minimize disruption to local traffic and commuters, the work will be performed in stages over 12 consecutive nights, from 7:00 p.m. in the evening to 5:00 a.m. in the morning.
  • The new watermain and other water infrastructure will be installed in sections.
  • The road will be plated each morning to allow transit users and motorists access to Kennedy Station.
  • Upon completion of all sections the road will be asphalted.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Traffic will be reduced to a minimum of one lane in each direction on Transway Crescent to divert traffic around the work zone.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.
  • As always, please pay attention to signage and do take care when travelling near work sites.

TTC Details

  • Access to Kennedy Station will be maintained.
  • TTC bus stops in the affected area will remain in their current locations.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation between TTC and Metrolinx to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
