What Work is Taking Place?

As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will be conducting curb and pedestrian walkway work on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East between Birchmount Road and Rosemount Road. Starting as early as Wednesday, October 2nd 2019, and lasting approximately three (3) weeks access to the main walkway of 2225 and 2239 Eglinton Avenue East will be temporarily restricted. Property access to the buildings will be maintained on either side of the property. 

The south sidewalk on Eglinton Avenue East will be restricted, and a temporary sidewalk will be installed to reroute pedestrians in order to safely carry out the work.

 

Hours of Work

Starting as early as Wednesday, October 2, 2019 and lasting approximately three (3) weeks.

This work may take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. 

Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

The south sidewalk on Eglinton Avenue East will be closed during the duration of this work and a temporary route will be provided for pedestrians.

Construction will continue at TPSS 12 on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Birchmount to Rosemount

A temporary sidewalk will be accessible on the north and south sides of Eglinton Avenue East to reroute pedestrians. 

Delays can be expected when accessing properties surrounding the work zone.

Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from saw cutters, hydro-vacuum trucks and construction vehicles during this work.

Expect delays when traveling near work zones.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

The north and south sidewalk will be closed during the duration of this work with a temporary sidewalk installation.

Pedestrian detours can be expected.

Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians to alternate routes.

As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

TTC Impacts

TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.

In the event of relocation, please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.

Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
