What Work is Taking Place

As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will install permanent curbs and sidewalks on the north and south side of Eglinton Avenue East, between Birchmount Road and Kennedy Road. 

The sequence of work will begin from Rosemount Drive to Kennedy Road, and will finish between Birchmount Road and Rosemount Drive. There will be rolling lane closures in the eastbound and westbound curb lane between Birchmount Road to Kennedy Road for the duration of the work.

Work includes grading, concrete works, and curb installation to ensure all curbs and sidewalks are according to the dimensions set out in the final design.

Hours of Work 

• Work will begin as early as April 27, 2020 and last for approximately 3 months.

• Work will be performed in sections between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. 

• Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. 

What to Expect 

• The work will be completed in sections moving eastward on Eglinton Avenue East, beginning between Rosemount Drive and Ionview Road, Ionview Road to Kennedy Road, and finally Birchmount Road to Rosemount Drive.

• Minimal noise from construction equipment such as concrete trucks, bobcats and generators can be expected.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts 

• The eastbound and westbound curb lane will be restricted on Eglinton Avenue East between Birchmount Road and Kennedy Road.

• Periodic sidewalk interruptions may occur, and pedestrians will be directed to a temporary sidewalk.

• The eastbound and westbound left turn lanes will be temporarily restricted at Ionview Road and one crosswalk will be maintained at all times.

• A minimum of one lane of eastbound and westbound through traffic will be maintained during this work 

• Emergency services access will be maintained at all times. 

TTC Impacts

• All temporary TTC bus stops will remain in their current locations.

• Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely, while minimizing impact on the community and customers
