What Work is Taking Place?
Crews are working to replace an existing watermain north of Eglinton Avenue East within the existing work zone at the northeast corner of Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East. This work supports the upgrade of existing water infrastructure around the future Science Centre Station.
Starting as early as April 20th and lasting approximately four (4) weeks, work to connect the new watermain section to the existing infrastructure will take place. During these works, residents in the catchment area may experience lower than normal water pressure.
Timing
- Work to connect the new infrastructure is expected to begin as early as April 20th and last approximately four (4) weeks.
- Work may occur between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, 7 days a week. In the event that overnight work is required, Metrolinx will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- The watermain will be installed in sections from Gervais Drive to Don Mills Road. The majority of the work will be performed within the existing work zone.
- Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
- Residents and businesses in the catchment area for this section of watermain may experience lower than normal water pressure.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
- Paid-Duty Police Officers may be present during this work.
- Existing traffic set-up will remain in effect.
- Existing crosswalk and sidewalk closures will remain in effect.
