What work is Taking Place?
- Pending a City of Toronto permit, work will commence to remove traffic signals at the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East intersection.
- Temporary traffic lights and Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTVs) will be installed at all four corners of the intersection to accommodate construction staging for the future Science Centre Station.
- The CCTVs link to the City of Toronto’s Road Restrictions Map providing road restriction information in real-time.
- Work will start as early as July 15, 2016 and will continue for approximatley one month.
Timing
- Work will be conducted between the hours of approximately 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
- Work could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear noise related to saw cutting, jack hammering, trucks, and other construction equipment related to this work.
Traffic Details
- Intermittent lane closures on Eglinton Avenue East and on Don Mills Road will be required.
- Paid duty officer(s) will be present to assist with traffic management and pedestrian safety.
Pedestrian Details
- Intermittent crosswalk closures will be required for this work. No more than one crosswalk will be closed at a time. Signage will be provided to inform pedestrians of each crosswalk closure.
- Crosswalk(s) may be shifted to accommodate pedestrian traffic but will remain open.
- Pedestrian and property access will be maintained.
- As always, please take care when travelling near construction areas.
