What Work is Taking Place?
- Crews will resume the relocation of existing telecommunication lines along Eglinton Avenue East, between Victoria Park Avenue and Birchmount Road.
- Telecommunication lines within utility chambers as well within pre-existing duct banks will be relocated in preparation for surface stop construction.
Hours of Work
- Work began late October 2017 and will begin again as early as February 5, 2018. The entire work is projected to take approximately eight (8) months to complete.
- This work will occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., up to seven (7) days a week. Exact working hours within these timeframes will be at the discretion of the contractor.
- If overnight work is required, we will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Work zones will be erected between Victoria Park Avenue and Birchmount Road, as well as on the east side of Victoria Park Avenue, north of Eglinton Avenue East for approximately 75 metres.
- Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks, and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
- For safety purposes, fencing will be erected around the work zones.
Traffic Impacts
- Intermittent lane reductions may be required on Eglinton Avenue East while crews set-up and/or demobilize.
- The actual work will take place within the public boulevard, off the roadway.
- There may be occurrences where a shoulder is narrowed and a traffic protection barrier is placed to accommodate safe working conditions.
- As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
Pedestrian Impacts
- Pedestrian access will be maintained.
- Temporary pedestrian rerouting around work zones may be necessary to accommodate this work.
