RETAINING WALL CONSTRUCTION:

BETWEEN WYNFORD DRIVE AND EAST DON RIVER BRIDGES

What Work is Taking Place?

To accommodate continued road reconstruction and widening along Eglinton Avenue East, a retaining wall will be constructed just west of the East Don River Bridge and east of Wynford Drive, on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East to hold back the soil from embankment.


Hours of Work

  • Work will begin as early as August 26 and will go to approximately mid-November 2019.
  • Work will be performed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven (7) days a week.
  • Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice.

What to Expect

  • Preparatory work includes approved tree removals, sediment and erosion control measures, traffic shift and removal of existing infrastructure.
  • Construction activities includes excavation, foundation preparation, hydrovacing, concrete works and backfill.
  • Generators will be used when necessary to power equipment.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts 

  • The sidewalk will remain open on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East for pedestrians.
  • Westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane directly in front of the worksite during off peak hours 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
