What to Expect

Crews have begun setting up staging areas at the main and secondary entrance sites for the future Laird Station in preparation for shoring and excavation work. Shoring is a common step in the process of installing the foundation of a building whereby crews install steel piles, braces and tie-backs around the sides of the future entrances to support excavation and mining of the station. Residents near the work site can expect to hear trucks, excavators, backhoes, a pile drill and other construction equipment. There will be heavy truck activity at times entering and exiting the station entrances.

Hours of Work:

  • Crews will begin shoring within the future station lands as early as late June 2016.
  • The work is permitted between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., 7 days a week.
  • The contractor will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Occasional overnight work may be required. Metrolinx and Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.
