Sidewalk Closure for Massey Creek Culvert Work

 

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the ongoing works to build the LRT system along Eglinton Avenue East, crews will be replacing the existing culvert at Massey Creek. Work began as early as late February 2019 and will last for approximately nine (9) months. The creek is located at the signalized intersection of Eglinton Avenue East and Rosemount Drive.

Beginning as early as Thursday March 21, 2019, there will be sidewalk closure on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East in close proximity to 2243 Eglinton Avenue East in order to safely carry out the work. The south sidewalk will be closed for approximately five (5) months.

 

Hours of Work

  • Beginning as early as Thursday March 21, 2019 and lasting for approximately five (5) months.
  • This work may take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • The south sidewalk in close proximity to 2243EAE will be closed during this stage.
  • A temporary sidewalk will be provided 16.5 meters within the City’s right of way from the original sidewalk.
  • The north sidewalk will remain open during this stage.
  • Delays can be expected when accessing properties surrounding the work zone.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from saw cutters, hydro-vacuum trucks and construction vehicles during this work.
  • Expect delays when traveling near work zones.

 

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • The south sidewalk will be closed during this stage, pedestrian detours can be expected.
  • A temporary sidewalk will be provided 16.5 meters within the City’s right of way from the original sidewalk.
