WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Storm line inspection and testing of the new fire hydrant will take place on Eglinton Avenue East at Donlea Drive on March 31, 2020. Inspection and testing will take place beginning at 9:00 a.m. for a period of approximately four (4) hours. To safely perform these activities, a temporary closure of one westbound lane on Eglinton Avenue East will be implemented (depicted below), there will be no vehicular access between Eglinton Avenue East and Donlea Drive for the duration of these activities.

HOURS OF WORK

  • Work is expected to take place on March 31, 2020 between the hours of 9:00a.m. and 1:00p.m.
  • Inspections and testing may be longer or shorter than expected.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion.
  • This traffic change and related construction activities may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.  

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Crews will be inspecting the inside of the new stormline by inserting a CCTV camera through the manhole located at Eglinton Avenue East and Donlea Drive.
  • Crews will also be performing a fire hydrant flow test on the newly installed fire hydrant within the work zone.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

  • Temporary closure of one westbound lane on Eglinton Avenue East at Donlea Drive.
  • No vehicular access between Eglinton Avenue East and Donlea Drive for the duration of the work.

PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

  • Pedestrians will be rerouted around the work zone on Donlea Drive on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East.

TRANSIT INFORMATION

  • No impacts to existing TTC stops and routes.

TRAVELLING SMART DURING CONSTRUCTION

  •  Travel delays are expected with construction. Please allow extra time for your journey.
  •  Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Eglinton Crosstown LRT construction.
