Kennedy Station will be the terminal station at the eastern end of the LRT line, and will also serve as an interchange station. It will be located at Transway Crescent and Eglinton Avenue East, approximately 300 metres east of Kennedy Road.

In preparation for station construction, crews will begin conducting preparatory activities and utility works including surveying, locating utilities, and drilling boreholes to obtain additional information on sub-surface utilities and ground conditions in various locations along Eglinton.

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the preparatory work for Kennedy Station, crews will be conducting an SUE investigation along Eglinton Avenue East to determine the location and depth of existing utilities.

Crews will drill and hydro-vac overtop of existing utilities within the boulevard and roadway, then a surveyor will examine the utilities to obtain coordinates for design purposes. All will be backfilled and restored accordingly.

Timing

SUE investigation will begin as early as July 4, 2016 and will take approximately three weeks to complete

SUE investigation will be conducted between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances

What to Expect

Construction crews and equipment will be present in the vicinity of Kennedy Station along Eglinton Avenue East, between Kennedy Road and Midland Avenue. Crews will also be present on the North Service Road, South Service Road and Transway Crescent.

Nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear noise caused by core drills and hydro-vac trucks.

Traffic Details

While most of the work is contained within boulevards, intermittent lane reductions along Eglinton Avenue East, between Kennedy Road and Midland Avenue, as well as on the North Service Road, South Service Road and Transway Crescent will be required to access utilities within the roadway.

Pedestrian and property access will be maintained.

As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
