What Work is Taking Place?

Crews will relocate and upgrade existing overhead and underground telecommunication between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street along Eglinton Ave East in preparation for construction of the Brentcliffe Portal and Sunnybrook Park Stop.

Timing

  • Beginning as early as mid-February 2018 for approximately six (6) months.
  • This work may take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Updates on works taking place during overnight periods will be communicated separately.

What to Expect

  • The majority of the work will take place within the public boulevard, off the roadway.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.

Traffic Impacts

  • Lane reductions will be required with a minimum of one through lane of traffic in each direction maintained.
  • There may be occurrences where a shoulder is narrowed and/or a traffic protection barrier is placed to accommodate safe working conditions.
  • Two designated left turns lanes for eastbound Eglinton Avenue traffic to northbound Leslie Street will be maintained.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Pedestrian Impacts

  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.
  • Temporary pedestrian rerouting around work zones may be necessary to accommodate this work.

TTC Impacts

  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders. Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation between TTC and Metrolinx to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
