Temporary Crosswalk Removal - Wednesday, October 12, 2022

What Work is Taking Place?

As early as Wednesday, October 12, 2022, crews will begin to remove the temporary crosswalk on Eglinton Avenue, east of Oakwood Avenue (refer to map). As of Thursday, October 13, 2022, pedestrians will not be able to use the crosswalk east of the intersection. Crosswalks at Oakwood, Glenholme, and Marlee Avenues will remain in place. To mitigate impact to the travelling public, some construction activities will be performed overnight. This work is expected to take place between 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m. for approximately one (1) week. 

What to Expect

Overnight noise from construction activities including grinding, water blasting, and hammering can be expected. Crews will remove the pavement markings at the crosswalk and then dismantle the traffic signals. Rolling lane closures may be required to complete this work; short-term lane reductions on Eglinton Avenue can be expected. Traffic control personnel and/or a Paid Duty Officer will be required to complete this work. Advance signage will be in place to direct pedestrians. Expect delays while travelling through the intersection.

HOURS OF WORK

• As early as Wednesday, October 12, 2022; between 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m. for approximately one (1) week
• Overnight work will not take place everyday, only when required
• This work may be rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances
