What Work is Taking Place?

Driveway tie-ins and boulevard restoration is ongoing on Eglinton Avenue East, between Rosemount Drive and Kennedy Road. As construction activities progress, temporary rolling driveway closures will be required on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Ionview Road and Kennedy Road for removal of existing asphalt and curbs. Closures will be in place for a maximum of four (4) hours each and will be performed one at time. Signage will be installed directing vehicles to available driveway access. Work is expected to begin as early as May 28, 2020 for a period of two (2) weeks. 

Additional driveways closures will be required at a later date to complete final paving, sidewalks and curb construction. Notice will be given to effected properties prior to work commencing.

 

    

 

Hours of Work 

Work will begin as early as May 28, 2020 for approximately two (2) weeks. 

This work is permitted between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

 

What to Expect

Crews will be removing existing asphalt and curbs on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Ionview and Kennedy Road. 

Temporary driveway closures for a maximum of four (4) hours will be required to complete this work.  

Driveways will be closed one at a time. Access to commercial properties will be maintained via alternate driveways. Directional signage will be installed. 

Noise from construction equipment, vehicles and generators can be expected. Site lighting may be required.

 

Traffic and Pedestrian Details

Driveway restrictions and signage will be in place to direct vehicles to alternative entrances where applicable. 

There will be no changes to the existing pedestrian routes. 

 

TTC Details

All temporary TTC bus stops will remain in their current locations.

Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely, while minimizing impact on the community and customers.

 

Travelling Smart during Construction

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
