What Work is Taking Place

As part of the ongoing construction for the future surface alignment of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews are performing boulevard restoration works on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Rosemount Drive and Ionview Road. 

 

To accommodate these activities, part of the pedestrian sidewalk at the northeast corner of Rosemount Drive and Eglinton Avenue East will be temporarily closed. as early as May 25, 2020 for a period of two (2) weeks. Pedestrians will be re-routed to the south side of Eglinton Avenue East. 

 

 

Hours of Work 

New pedestrian routes will be implemented as early as May 25, 2020 for approximately two (2) weeks.

The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion. 

Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

 

What to Expect 

A temporary closure of the pedestrian route on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East, east of Rosemount Drive is required for pedestrian safety. 

A pedestrian walkway will be available on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East between Rosemount Drive and Ionview Road. 

Pedestrian access to residential buildings will be maintained. 

Directional signage will be installed. 

Crews will be constructing new sidewalks and curbs and tying in driveways to the newly widened road.  

Excavators, dump trucks, concrete trucks and pumps, curb machine and road rollers may be required onsite for these activities. 

Noise from construction equipment and crews can be expected, site lighting may be required.

 

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts 

Closure of the pedestrian route on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East, east of Rosemount Drive. 

Daily lane restrictions may occur during working hours. 

A minimum of one lane of eastbound and westbound through traffic will be maintained during this work 

 

TTC Impacts

No changes to the existing TTC stops for this work. 

Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely, while minimizing impact on the community and customers
