Tower Crane Installation at Science Centre Station

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

As part of the construction of the future Science Centre Station, crews will be removing and re-installing the existing tower crane in the construction zone on Eglinton Avenue East, west of Don Mills Road. The crane will be moved slightly west of its current position. Work will take place in the eastbound lanes on Eglinton Avenue East between Leslie and Don Mills Road. Eastbound traffic will be rerouted to the north side on Eglinton Avenue East, flowing alongside westbound traffic.

Traffic setup will revert to current conditions overnight with the exception of an additional lane closure eastbound on Eglinton Avenue East between Leslie and Don Mills Road.

TIMING

• The work will begin as early as 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3 and continue to 7:00 p.m.
• Work will resume as early as 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 4 and continue to 7:00 p.m.
• Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS 

• Eastbound traffic will be diverted to the north side of Eglinton Avenue East west of Don Mills, flowing alongside westbound traffic.
• Traffic setup will revert to current conditions overnight (between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.) with the exception of an additional lane closure eastbound on Eglinton Avenue East between Leslie and Don Mills Road.
• Upon completion of the installation traffic setup will revert to current conditions for the remainder of the stage.
• The eastbound left turn at Eglinton Avenue East and Don Mills will be prohibited.
• All pedestrian crosswalks at the intersection will remain open.
• Paid duty officers will be on site all weekend.
• Road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone.
• As always, please take care when travelling through the work zone.

TTC IMPACTS

• One westbound bus stop (2263) will be relocated from the west to the east side of the intersection for the weekend.
