Track Work at Eglinton Square and Eglinton Avenue East - Friday, January 13 – Monday, January 16, 2023

What Work is Taking Place? 

From Friday, January 13, 2023 – Monday, January 16, 2023, crews will perform track works in the centre of the Eglinton Square and Eglinton Avenue East intersection. To facilitate this work safely, northbound through traffic and the northbound left turn from Eglinton Square to Eglinton Avenue East will be restricted. Southbound traffic on Eglinton Square will be reduced to one lane. The westbound left turn from Eglinton Avenue to Eglinton Square will be reduced to one dedicated lane. This work is expected to begin at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, and continue through to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023. 

What to Expect

A work zone will be erected in the centre of the intersection. Overnight noise from construction activities, including concrete cutting, can be expected. Chipping will be required to complete this work. Chipping is the process of using an excavator and jackhammer to remove concrete and hardened material. Early morning and daytime noise from chipping, hammering, and concrete pours can be expected. Traffic control personnel and/or a Paid Duty Officer will be present while this work takes place. Expect delays while traveling through the intersection.

HOURS OF WORK

• Starting Friday, January 13 at 6:00 p.m. and continuing through to Monday, January 16, 2023, at 3:00 p.m.
• Construction activities will take place between 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
• Construction activities will continue until midnight on Friday January 13, 2023
• Work may be rescheduled or delayed due to inclement weather and/or unforeseen circumstances.
• This work may be longer or shorter than expected.

TRAFFIC DETAILS

• Northbound through traffic on Eglinton Square will be restricted 
• The northbound left turn from Eglinton Square onto Eglinton Avenue East will be restricted 
• Southbound traffic on Eglinton Square will be reduced to one lane
• The westbound left turn from Eglinton Avenue to Eglinton Square will be reduced to one dedicated lane
• Traffic control personnel and/or a Paid Duty Officer will be present while this work takes place

PEDESTRIAN DETAILS

• No changes to the current pedestrian routes are expected as a result of this work
