Traffic Change at Kennedy Station - Kennedy Road and Eglinton Avenue East

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Decking removal within the Eglinton Avenue East and Kennedy Road intersection will be complete early July 2020. A new traffic configuration will be implemented as early as July 6, 2020 for approximately six (6) weeks. The new configuration will allow crews to complete roadworks at the four corners of the intersection.

HOURS OF WORK 

• Work will begin as early as July 6, 2020 for approximately six (6) weeks. 

• Construction works may occur between 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday to Sunday.  

• The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion. 

• This traffic change and related construction activities may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.  

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Crews will be performing road works within the four corners of the Eglinton Ave East and Kennedy Road intersection. This includes: 

o Removal of existing asphalt and curbs 

o Construction of new sidewalks and curbs 

o Driveway tie-ins to the newly widened road  

• Excavators, dump trucks, concrete trucks and pumps, curb machine and road rollers may be required onsite for these activities.

• Noise from construction equipment and crews can be expected, site lighting may be required.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS 

• There will be no turning restrictions at the intersection. 

• A shared through and right turn lane will be implemented for northbound and southbound traffic at the intersection. 

PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

• Periodic crosswalk closures will be required to complete the work. A minimum of three crosswalks will be maintained all times. Signage will be installed directing pedestrians to available crosswalks. 

• The west sidewalk will be restored for the duration of the work.

TRANSIT INFORMATION

• There will be no impacts to existing transit stops. 

• Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses is done in consultation with the TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.

TRAVELLING SMART DURING CONSTRUCTION

• Travel delays are expected with construction. Please allow extra time for your journey.

• Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Eglinton Crosstown LRT construction.
