Traffic Configuration Change at Allen Road and Eglinton Avenue West as early as July 6, 2022

What Work is Taking Place?

As early as Wednesday, July 6, 2022, a new traffic configuration will be implemented at Allen Road and Eglinton Avenue West. Traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will shift to the south side of the street, and construction will move to the north side. Significant traffic and pedestrian changes will be in effect. What to Expect

Traffic control personnel and/or a Paid Duty Officer will be present while the new traffic configuration is being implemented. Overnight work may be required to implement the traffic changes. Expect delays while travelling through the intersection.

During this traffic stage, utility reinstatement and road and sidewalk restoration works will take place on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West between Park Hill and Glenarden Roads. Construction activities will include excavation, chipping, backfilling, paving, compacting, and concrete pours. Use of construction equipment such as an excavator, jack hammer, compacter, trucks, and hand tools will be required to complete this work. Noise and vibration from these construction activities can be expected. Concrete barriers, fencing, and dust cloth will be erected to delineate work zones. Trucks will stage in and around the work zones.

HOURS OF WORK

• The new traffic configuration will be implemented on the morning of Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at approximately 6:00 a.m.
• Overnight work will be required to implement the traffic changes
• This traffic configuration is expected to remain in place through Summer 2022
• This work may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather and/or unforeseen circumstances.

TRAFFIC DETAILS

• Eastbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will be reinstated to two through lanes between Winnett Avenue and Allen Road South.
• Westbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will remain a single lane between Allen Road North and Park Hill Road
• The westbound right turn lane from Eglinton Avenue West to Allen Road North will be reinstated
• Strathearn and Flanders Roads will reopen at Eglinton Avenue West.
• The eastbound left turn lane will remain for TTC buses turning into Eglinton West Station
• The eastbound left turn lane will remain for vehicles turning onto Allen Road North
• Park Hill and Everden, Roads will remain closed at Eglinton Avenue West
• The northbound left turn from Winnett Avenue to Eglinton Avenue West will remain prohibited
• The northbound left turn from Flanders Road to Eglinton Avenue West will remain prohibited
• The north driveway at 1435 Eglinton Avenue West (Toronto Police 13 Division) will reopen
• The east and west driveways at 1435 Eglinton Avenue West (Toronto Police 13 Division) will remain open

PEDESTRIAN DETAILS

• The north-south crosswalk on the west side of Eglinton Avenue West and Allen Road South will be shifted slightly west back to its original location
• The sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton Avenue West, between Everden and Strathearn Roads, will reopen
