Tree Removals on Eglinton Avenue West between Edith Drive and Lascelles Boulevard September 16, 2020

What Work is Taking Place?

Phase 1 of construction for the new Eglinton Connects Streetscape and Cycle Track is currently underway on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West, between Duplex Avenue and Edith Drive. The new streetscape and cycle track will be implemented continuously between Avenue Road and Holly Street. Construction will take place in coordination with the City of Toronto’s planned Eglinton Connects Streetscape and Cycle Track Design. For more information, please visit www.toronto.ca/eglinton.

As early as Monday September 21, 2020, construction of the new streetscape and cycle track will extend west to Lascelles Boulevard. To accommodate this work, the removal of two (2) trees located on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West, between Edith Drive and Lascelles Boulevard, will take place on the City of Toronto right-of-way (depicted in the map). The number of trees to be removed is the minimum amount required to safely construct the Eglinton Connects Streetscape and Cycle Track.

Tree removals will begin as early as Monday September 21, 2020 and will take approximately one (1) day to complete. Upon the completion of Eglinton Connects, additional trees will be planted in place of the removed ones. All removals have been approved by the City of Toronto and an avian biologist to confirm the absence of nesting birds. For more information about construction of the new Eglinton Connects Streetscape and Cycle Track, please visit www.thecrosstown.ca.
