What Work is Taking Place?
To support the ongoing mining works at the future Laird Station, a layer of backfill (granular material) will be added to the base of the existing tunnel from the Brentcliffe Portal to Laird Drive.
Backfill material will be stockpiled and then be pushed in to the tunnel at Brentcliffe Portal and inside the tunnels towards Laird Drive. Compaction of the material will occur inside of the tunnels.
Hours of Work
- Stockpiling will be carried on dayshift between 7am to 11pm.
- Work in the tunnels occurs on a 24 hour schedule.
- Work is expected to begin as soon as October 10, 2017 and take approximately three (3) weeks.
What to Expect
- Nearby properties may feel vibrations related to the compaction work however it is expected to be minimal due to the depth of the tunnels.
- Crews are monitoring noise and vibration during this work.
- Trucks will deliver material to the Brentcliffe site periodically throughout the day.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
- There are no pedestrian or traffic related impacts for this work.
