Since 2016, shoring and excavation work has been underway at the main and secondary entrance sites for the future Oakwood Station. Excavation at the Main entrance is currently underway and will be followed by mining operations in late 2017.

Shoring is a common step in the process of constructing the foundation of a building. Shoring involves installing steel piles, as well as braces and tie-backs, around the perimeter of the area being excavated to support the ground while crews dig. There will be an increase in truck traffic entering and exiting the main site and materials needed for construction will be visible within the workzone.

Setting up the work zone in the roadway will require some changes to Eglinton Avenue West from Oakwood Avenue to Times Road.  Lane reductions will be required and on-street parking will not be permitted in the workzone.  New turn restrictions may be implemented close to the intersection to ensure safe traffic and pedestrian movement.

Changes to the pedestrian pathways and crossings should also be expected.

More specific information will be issued later this Summer 2017 closer to the start of the next phase of work.
