What Work is Taking Place? 

To accommodate upcoming shoring activities for the new Cedarvale LRT Station, crews will be relocating Toronto hydro infrastructure in the area of Everden Road and Eglinton Avenue West. For pedestrians travelling north on Everden Rd the ONLY access to Eglinton Avenue West will be through Ben Nobleman Park. Pedestrians will be routed through the pre-existing paved pathway through Ben Noblemen Park to the sidewalk on Eglinton Avenue West.

Hours of Work

  • Starting as early as September 24, 2018 for approximately 2-3 weeks.
  • Work can be expected between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., 7 days a week. Work outside these hours may be required for other construction activities. (This information will be communicated separately.)
  • Work may be delayed due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • There will be no pedestrian sidewalk access to Eglinton Avenue West from Everden Rd.; Pedestrians must access Eglinton Ave West via the paved pathway through Ben Nobleman Park.
  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect noise in the area caused by trucks and other construction equipment, as well as dust from construction activities and debris removal.
  • Heavy truck traffic entering and exiting the work zone throughout permitted working hours.
  • In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within designated work zones.

Traffic Details

  • At least one (1) lane in each direction east-west along Eglinton Avenue will be maintained.  
  • Park Hill Road, Everden Road, and Strathearn Road will remain closed at Eglinton Avenue.
  • Left turns from Winnett Avenue to Eglinton Avenue will be restricted.

Pedestrian Details

  • There will be no pedestrian sidewalk access to Eglinton Avenue West from Everden Rd.; Pedestrians must access Eglinton Ave West via the paved pathway through Ben Nobleman Park.
  • The sidewalk on the north side of Eglinton Avenue from Allen Road South to Eglinton West Subway Station will remain closed. To access the station, pedestrians coming from west of Allen Road must cross to the south side of Eglinton Avenue at Winnett Avenue and then cross north again at the signal in front of Ben Nobleman Park.
  • There are no changes for pedestrians coming from east of Allen Road North.
  • The existing north-south pedestrian crosswalk at Allen Road South will remain shifted west towards Winnett Avenue.

Transit Access

  • Access to the TTC Eglinton West Subway Station will be maintained at all times.

Travelling Smart during Construction

  • Travel delays are expected with construction. Please allow extra time for your journey.
  • Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during Eglinton Crosstown LRT construction.
  • When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
