The next phase for support of excavation at Forest Hill Station includes piling and shallow excavation on the north side of Eglinton Avenue, west of Bathurst Street. The work zone that has been on the south side of Eglinton will shift to the north side. Traffic which has been flowing on the north side of Eglinton will shift to the south side.
Support of excavation, also known as shoring, is a common step in constructing the foundation of a building. Shoring involves installing steel piles, as well as braces and tie-backs, around the perimeter of the area to be excavated to support the ground while crews dig.
Hours of Work
- Starting as early as August 7, 2018, crews will be working overnight for approximately 1-2 nights to install the new traffic staging west of Bathurst.
- Shoring work can be expected between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., 7 days a week. (Work outside these hours may be required for other construction activities. This information will be communicated separately).
- Work may be delayed due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
