What Work is Taking Place?

Pending permits and approvals, work will commence to reconfigure the traffic lights at the Yonge-Eglinton intersection to prepare for upcoming utilities relocations.

  • Work is expected to begin as early as late August 2016 and is expected to last 4 days.
  • Overnight work will be required, but minimal noise disruption is expected.
  • Pending permits, work will be from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work is subject to permits and all relevant approvals, and may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances

What to Expect

  • Localized construction zones will be instated at the Yonge-Eglinton intersection.
  • Traffic signals will be disabled temporarily at various times overnight to minimize traffic and pedestrian impacts.
  • A paid-duty officer will be present to direct traffic as required.
  • The new traffic signal configuration will maintain all the existing functions including the audio-positioning system.
  • All access to businesses will be maintained.
