What work is Taking Place?

  • Pending a City of Toronto permit, work will commence to replace and relocate existing utilities in the area of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue to make way for the future Eglinton interchange station. Over the coming months, storm and sanitary sewers, water mains, hydro ducts, and telecommunications utilities will be replaced and relocated in a series of stages.

Timing

  • Work is expected to begin as early as mid-August 2016.
  • This stage of the utilities relocation is expected to last 1-2 months.
  • Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, 7 days a week.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Occasional overnight work may be required. Metrolinx will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.
  • Work is subject to permits and all relevant approvals, and may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
