What Work is Taking Place?

Beginning as early as April 11, 2018, the property at 795 Warden Avenue will be demolished to make way for the construction of one of the Traction Power Substations (TPSS) that will power the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (ECLRT).  The work will take place within a protected work zone. Both traffic and pedestrian pathways will not be affected by this work.

Hours of Work

  • Demolition works are expected to begin as early as April 11, 2016 and will last for approximately two weeks.
  • Demolition works will take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
  • Some work may be rescheduled or adjusted due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Residents and businesses near demolition sites should anticipate increased noise from excavators, bobcats, and other construction equipment as well as dust caused by demolition activity and removal of debris.
  • To control dust levels, crews will regularly clean debris generated from demolition and will use water to reduce dust and clean the site.
  • For safety purposes, temporary chain-link fencing and dust cloth will be installed around the demolition site, with spotters present at gates as required during working hours.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Protective fencing will be put in place.
  • Traffic and pedestrian pathways/sidewalks will not be affected by this work.
  • Increased truck traffic in the area is expected.
  • Traffic control personnel will be present to manage the flow of truck traffic into the construction site.

What’s Next?

  • Following demolition, excavated areas will be backfilled and utility relocation works as well as shoring will commence. Further details will be communicated as they become available.
