WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

As part of the ongoing pavement reconstruction works at intersections along Eglinton Avenue East in support of construction of the future surface stops, crews will be conducting pavement reconstruction works at the Warden Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East intersection. Work began in November 2018 and will continue on Friday August 2 and Saturday August 3, with intersection traffic restriction on the north side of Warden Avenue.

As early as August 4, 2019 the construction zone will shift to the center of Eglinton Avenue East at Warden Avenue and will be in place for approximately six (6) weeks. There will be no through north-south traffic on Warden and left turn restrictions at the intersection.

Friday, Aug. 2/ Saturday, Aug. 3 – There will be no access to and from Warden Avenue on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East.

August 4th – There will be no through north-south traffic on Warden Avenue and left turn restrictions at the intersection.

HOURS OF WORK

  • Paving work will take place on Friday, August 2 and continue until Saturday, August 3.
  • Guideway work will begin as early as August 4th and continue for approximately six (6) weeks.
  • Work is permitted between 7:00am and 11:00 pm, seven (7) days a week.
  • Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavor to provide reasonable notice.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • The work includes cutting and removal of asphalt, excavation, installation of subgrade materials, duct banks installation and track drainage, track slab and stops.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from construction equipment.
  • Property access will be maintained.
  • Delays can be expected when accessing properties surrounding the work zone.

TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

Friday, August 2 / Saturday, August 3 

  • One (1) lane of traffic in each direction at the intersection along Eglinton Ave E will be maintained.
  • Traffic will be shifted south along Eglinton Avenue East and Warden Avenue intersection.
  • There will be no access to or from Warden Avenue north of Eglinton Avenue East.
  • One north south crosswalk at Eglinton Avenue East and Warden Avenue intersection will be maintained.

Sunday, August 4th

  • A minimum of two (2) lanes of eastbound and westbound through traffic will be maintained during this work.
  • Left turn restrictions will be in place at the intersection during this work.
  • There will be alternating north-south crosswalk closures during this work.
  • One north-south crosswalk will remain open at all times.
  • Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians to alternate routes.
  • Temporary pedestrian re-routing around work zones may be necessary to accommodate this work.

TTC IMPACTS

  • The Warden bus will be rerouted, please check the online TTC website for updated route information.
  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
