What Work is Taking Place?

As early as Monday, June 6, 2022, a new traffic configuration will be implemented at Eglinton Avenue West and Duplex Avenue to facilitate construction of the new Eglinton Connects Streetscape and Cycle Track. The width of the traffic lanes on Duplex Avenue will be reduced north of Eglinton Avenue West to accommodate the work zone at the north-west corner of the intersection. The sidewalk on the west side of Duplex Avenue will be partially closed at the north-west corner of the intersection. A temporary walkway will be implemented east of the work zone to maintain pedestrian access to the north crosswalk (refer to map). This configuration will remain in place for approximately three (3) weeks.

The new Eglinton Connects streetscape and cycle track will be implemented continuously between Avenue Road and Holly Street. Crews will work Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. with overnight work as required.  As part of this work, the existing roadway, sidewalk, and any street furniture and trees will be removed. For more information on the City of Toronto’s Eglinton Connects Streetscape and Cycle Track Design, visit www.toronto.ca/eglinton.

Occasionally, use of a hydro-vacuum truck, jack hammer and/or compaction roller will be required.  Significant traffic and pedestrian changes will be in effect. Please review the complete notice or visit http://www.thecrosstown.ca/  for more information.

What to Expect

Noise from construction activity, including trucks, breaking of concrete and asphalt, utility work, and use of heavy equipment can be expected. Construction vehicles and trucks will stage within work zones and traffic tapers. Traffic barrels, fencing, and signage will be in place to delineate work zones. Access to businesses, properties, and TTC will be maintained. Expect delays while travelling through the intersection.
