What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the ongoing works to build the LRT system along Eglinton Avenue East, crews will be replacing the existing culvert at Massey Creek. Work will continue for approximately 4 months. The creek is located at the signalized intersection of Eglinton Avenue East and Rosemount Drive.

Preparatory work began in late February 2019 including tree removals, dewatering of wells and deep excavation. Crews will be excavating nine and half (9.5) meters deep and replacing the storm water culvert.

Stage 2 of the work has begun on August 30th.

Hours of Work

  • Work is expected to begin from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, seven (7) days per week, Monday through Sunday.
  • Work is expected to take approximately four (4) months to complete.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions of unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Stage 2 is expected to last approximately four (4) months.
  • If you have a business in the area, it is suggested that you take extra precautions with business operations and equipment that are sensitive to vibrations.
  • If you live near the construction zone, you may want to temporarily remove wall hangings and pictures that could fall and be damaged from these potential vibrations.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times there will be noise and vibration around the work area. Monitoring will be conducted to ensure all levels are kept within industry standards.
  • There may be driveway restrictions during this work. Affected properties will be notified separately.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • The north-south crosswalk on the west side of Rosemount Drive and Eglinton Avenue East will be closed.
  • The north-south crosswalk on the east side of Rosemount Drive and Eglinton Avenue East will remain open.
  • East bound left turn is reinstated at Rosemount Road.
  • The west bound left turn lane remains restricted at Rosemount Drive.
  • The north sidewalk in close proximity to 2306 Eglinton Avenue East will be closed.
  • One driveway at 2300 Eglinton Avenue East will be restricted for the duration of work, with the parallel access maintained at all times.
  • The south sidewalk will be open.
  • A minimum of one (1) through lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained during this work.
  • Please watch for traffic and construction signage.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

TTC Impacts

  • The westbound bus stop on the east side of Rosemount Drive will be relocated to a temporary platform during this stage.
  • The eastbound bus stop on the west side of Rosemount Drive will be restored during stage 2.
  • Relocation and re-routing of the bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
