What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the ongoing storm water and sanitary utility upgrades for the future Science Centre Station, crews will be completing the connection of the new infrastructure to the existing at the northwest corner of Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East.

In an effort to minimize disruption and to protect the safety of the local community and commuters, work will be performed overnight beginning as early as Tuesday, June 12, 2018 and last for approximately one (1) week. Overnight work will continue through the weekend.

Hours of Work

  • Work is expected to begin as soon as June 12, 2018, and will be completed over eight (8) nights.
  • Work will occur overnight from 8 PM to 5 AM.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
  • For safety purposes, fencing will be erected around the work zones.
  • Property access to businesses will be maintained.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Lane reductions and turn restrictions will be required to safely perform this work.
  • Paid-Duty Police Officers will be present when this work is in close proximity to the intersection.
  • A minimum of one (1) lane of traffic will be maintained at all times.
  • Existing crosswalk and sidewalk closures will remain in effect. Please watch for signs directing pedestrians to alternate routes.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

TTC Impacts

  • TTC bus stops will remain in current locations during this work.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
