What Work is Taking Place?

Support of excavation (shoring) for the new Eglinton station will require closure of the underground pedestrian tunnel at Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue leading from the Eglinton TTC subway station (pictured below) to the Riocan Yonge-Eglinton Centre.


  • The east and north underground pedestrian tunnels were closed in June of 2017. They will remain closed until Fall 2021.
  • The west underground pedestrian tunnel leading from the concourse level of the Eglinton subway station to RioCan’s Yonge-Eglinton Centre is to be closed as early as Sunday, September 24, 2017. It will remain closed until Fall 2021.

What to Expect

  • Increased pedestrian traffic above and below ground.
  • All access to businesses will be maintained.
