What Work is Taking Place

Notice originally posted on June 7, 2017 - Updated on September 29, 2017

Update: Crews completed a majority of the hydro relocation work over the summer, and will be completing the work along Hillsdale Avenue and Yonge Street over the coming months.  The laydown area on Berwick Avenue has been extended to January 31, 2018.

To prepare for the construction of Eglinton Station, crews will re-route existing hydro utilities in the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue and Yonge Street starting in early-October for approximately four months.  Crews will be working to reroute the existing hydro cables within the City of Toronto’s public right-of-way property that may be in front of or adjacent to private property. To complete this work, crews will move from area to area to dig trenches to relocate the utility lines in a duct bank. Crews may use a hydro-vacuum truck, excavators, and other construction equipment.

Crews will be working in small sections at a time; shifting approximately every 2-5 days. Access to driveways may be blocked for up to 4 hours. Property owners will be contacted if driveway access is expected to be restricted for longer than 4 hours. Rolling lane closures and rolling sidewalk closures will be required.

Drivers and pedestrians will be directed around the work site accordingly.  As always, please be safe when travelling around construction sites.
