TRAFFIC CONFIGURATION CHANGE

Emergency Exit 3 – Eglinton and Donlea

 

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Crews are currently completing utility relocations, backfill and restoration works on the north side of Eglinton Avenue at Donlea Drive.  As early as December 7, 2019, the work zone will shift to the centre of the road (depicted below).  The new configuration will provide access for water main and fire hydrant re instalment. Following the work, all lanes will be restored, and the construction zone will be removed. A small emergency exit building will be permanently in place on the boulevard.

HOURS OF WORK

  • The work zone will shift as early as December 7, 2019 and remain in place for approximately 3 weeks.
  • Construction works will occur between 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, Monday to Sunday. 
  • This traffic change and related construction activities may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.  

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Crews will be reinstalling the water main and fire hydrant.
  • Backfill and pavement restoration will take upon completion of these installations. 

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

  • Eastbound traffic will be shifted south of the work zone.
  • Westbound traffic will be shifted north of the work zone.
  • Left turns from Bessborough Drive and Donlea Drive to Eglinton Avenue East will remain prohibited.
  • One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained.
  • Flagmen will be present to direct construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.

PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

  • The sidewalk will reopen on the northeast corner of Eglinton Avenue East and Donlea Drive.

TTC IMPACTS

  • No impacts to existing TTC stops and routes.

TRAVELLING SMART DURING CONSTRUCTION

  • Travel delays are expected with construction. Please allow extra time for your journey.
  • Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Eglinton Crosstown LRT construction.
