What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the continued support of excavation works and utility relocations for the future Science Centre station, traffic staging at the intersection of Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East will be changing as early as February 16, 2017.

Weather permitting – the traffic reconfiguration is expected to take place overnight on February 16 and February 17, 2017. Additional lane reductions will be required during the set-up. Once complete, this new set up will remain in place for up to three (3) months.

Traffic will be shifted to the south side of Eglinton Avenue, allowing work to proceed on the north side. Utility relocations at the northwest and southwest corners and road widening continue and piling on the north side of Eglinton Avenue will begin. Excavation will also begin for the off-street bus terminal at the northeast corner.

Hours of Work

  • The work zone set-up will begin overnight, between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM on February 16 and February 17, 2017. Additional set-up may be required and take up to (1) week to complete. Once complete, this set up will remain in place for up to three (3) months.
  • Most of the work is expected to be performed between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, however the contractor is permitted to work between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, 7 days a week. The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work is subject to permits and all relevant approvals, and may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic and Pedestrian Details

  • During the work zone set-up additional lane reductions may be required.
  • Once the set-up is complete, a minimum of two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained.
  • The existing right turn on red restriction from southbound Don Mills to westbound Eglinton remains in place.
  • All crosswalks at the intersection will be open.
  • All existing sidewalk closures and detours remain in effect for this stage. Pedestrian detours are clearly marked with signage directing pedestrians to the alternate routes.

TTC Details
