What Work is Taking Place?

As part of construction of the future Kennedy Station, crews continue to upgrade and relocate wet utilities along Eglinton Ave between east of Birchmount Road to west of Midland Avenue, including the North Service Road.

Crews have completed the east-west crossing of Ionview Road for the upgrades to the storm and sanitary utilities near Eglinton Avenue East. With this phase of the upgrade complete as part of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT Project, Ionview Road has been reopened.

Crews will continue to work on connecting the new sanitary system to the existing services and existing manhole located in the center of Eglinton Avenue East between Ionview Road and Rosemount Drive beginning as early as Thursday, May 31, 2018. This stage of work is expected to take up to two (2) weeks to complete.

Hours of Work

  • Work is expected to begin as early as Thursday, May 31, 2018 and take approximately two (2) weeks to complete.
  • This work may take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Updates on works taking place during overnight periods will be communicated separately.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Lane closures and pedestrian rerouting will be in effect.
  • TTC bus stops may be relocated away from work zones.
  • For safety, fencing, dust cloth, barriers, and scaffolding may be erected around work zones.
  • Noise, dust and lighting from construction activity can be expected.
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when traveling near work zones.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Lane reductions will be required in each direction to safely conduct all phases of this work. 
  • Temporary pedestrian rerouting around work zones may be necessary to accommodate this work.
  • Please watch for signs directing pedestrians to alternate routes.

TTC Impacts

  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.
  • In the event of relocation, please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
