What Work is Taking Place?
As part of the ongoing pavement reconstruction works at intersections along Eglinton Avenue East in support of construction of the future surface stops, crews will be conducting pavement reconstruction works at Warden Avenue intersection at Eglinton Avenue East. Work began in November 2018 and will continue with two (2) weekend intersection traffic restrictions of Warden Avenue on the weekend of July 27/28 and the weekend of Aug 3/4.
July 27/28 weekend - There will be no access to or from Warden Avenue on the south side of Eglinton Ave East
August 3/4 weekend – There will be no access to or from Warden Avenue on the north side of Eglinton Ave East.
Hours of Work
- Construction activities will begin on each Friday before these weekends, and will continue during regular working hours (7am- 11pm) and overnight during the weekend (11 pm- 7am) until the intersection re-opens the following Monday morning.
- Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavor to provide reasonable notice.
What to Expect
- The paving reconstruction will be completed over two (2) weekends.
- Full restrictions to northbound or southbound traffic from Eglinton Avenue East.
- East-west through traffic will be maintained.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
July 27/28 weekend
- One (1) lane of traffic in each direction at the intersection along Eglinton Ave E will be maintained. Traffic will be shifted north along Eglinton Avenue East and Warden Avenue intersection.
- There will be no access to or from Warden Avenue south of Eglinton Avenue East.
- One north south crosswalk at Eglinton Avenue East and Warden Avenue intersection will be maintained.
August 3/4 weekend
- One (1) lane of traffic in each direction at the intersection along Eglinton Ave E will be maintained. Traffic will be shifted south along Eglinton Avenue East and Warden Avenue intersection.
- There will be no access to or from Warden Avenue north of Eglinton Avenue East.
- One north south crosswalk at Eglinton Avenue East and Warden Avenue intersection will be maintained.
TTC Impacts
- TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.
- Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
