What Work Is Taking Place?
Work on the southeast corner of Warden Ave and Eglinton Ave E will start as early as July 8th, 2019 to support the upcoming construction of Traction Power Substation (TPSS) 11 that will power the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (ECLRT) line.
This work will be ongoing until the end of July 2019.
Crews will continue excavating, installing, and pouring concrete for duct banks at the south east corner of the Warden intersection.
Hours of Work
- Work begins on July 8th, 2019 and will be ongoing until the end of July.
- Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00am and 11:00 pm, seven (7) days a week.
- Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavor to provide reasonable notice.
What to Expect
- Duct bank installation for TPSS 11 will continue at the south east corner of Warden Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East intersection.
- Lane reductions at the south east corner of Warden Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East intersection.
- Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from construction equipment.
- Property access will be maintained.
- Delays can be expected when accessing properties surrounding the work zone.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
- Lane reductions at the south east corner of Warden Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East intersection
- A minimum of one (1) lane of traffic south bound and north bound will be maintained.
- There may be occurrences where a shoulder is narrowed and a traffic barrier is placed to accommodate safe working conditions.
- Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians to alternate routes.
- Temporary pedestrian re-routing around work zones may be necessary to accommodate this work.
TTC Impacts
- The north bound bus stop at Warden Avenue will be relocated further south.
- The south bound bus stop at Warden Avenue will be relocated further north.
- Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
