WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

 

As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will work extended hours at the Traction Power Substation 11, located on the southeast side of Eglinton Avenue East and Warden Avenue. As early as Wednesday, October 23, 2019 work will take place between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Due to bad weather, overnight work at Warden will continue until Friday, November 8.

Work involves saw cutting, removal of asphalt, dump trucks and concrete pouring. Additional temporary lighting will be required. Works anticipated to have higher noise or vibration will be prioritized between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.  

The overnight activities are expected to produce minimal noise. Site-based noise mitigation measures have been implemented to reduce disruption due to noise.

 

 

TIMING 

Overnight work has started Wednesday, October 23, 2019. Due to bad weather, overnight work will continue until Friday, November 8. 2019.

Work will take place between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

This work may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

Minimal overnight noise from construction equipment, such as excavators, trucks and generators, as well as site lighting can be expected.

Good neighbour training, broadband back up alarms and quieter generators will be implemented to reduce disruption from construction activities to the neighbourhood.

Training and controls to reduce the noise produced by equipment and workers in place. 

 

TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

The eastbound left turn lane will be restricted on Eglinton Ave E from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for utility work.

One lane in each direction will be maintained.

Pedestrian detours can be expected.

Access to businesses will not be impacted.

Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians to alternate routes.
