What Work is Taking Place?
- To prepare for the future construction of Science Centre Station, crews will remove existing curbs on the north side of Ferrand Drive in the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East vicinity. Following the curb removal, crews will install a new curb wall.
Timing
- Work began in late September 2016 and will take approximately 12 weeks to complete.
- The work is expected to occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., up to seven (7) days a week. Permitted hours are from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Works will be completed in a sequence designed to minimize traffic and pedestrian impacts.
- Removal of the curb on the north side of Ferrand Drive will be followed by the installation of a new curb wall in preparation for road widening necessary to construct the future Science Centre Station.
- Nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear noise related to drilling, saw-cutting, and the use of heavy equipment.
Traffic and Pedestrian Details
- For vehicular traffic, Ferrand Drive will be closed westbound from Windom Road for the duration of the work. Signage is posted to advise of the closure and direct motorists. Flagmen may be present to assist with traffic management.
- For pedestrians, the Ferrand Drive north side sidewalk parallel to Eglinton Avenue East will be closed for approximately one month to complete this work. Pedestrians will be redirected to the sidewalk on the south side of Ferrand Drive.
- Property and driveway access will be maintained.
- As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
