What Work Is Taking Place?
As part of GO Transit improvements at Kennedy GO Station, the existing GO Transit platform will be temporarily closed. Pedestrians will use the new GO Transit platform located across the existing tracks as early as August 17, 2020.
Pedestrians will be rerouted through the Kennedy TTC Station to the temporary new GO Transit platform (depicted below). Pedestrians can access the new platform through the south parking lot. Directional signage will be posted throughout the station in addition to on fencing on the platforms.
The east elevator in Kennedy GO Station will be closed effective August 14, 2020, through 2021. Transit riders with accessibility are encouraged to park at the South Parking Lot at Kennedy Station to access the new GO platform.
This configuration will remain in place for approximately one year. Please expect a pedestrian detour at Kennedy Station and allow extra time for your journey during this period of time.
HOURS OF WORK
• Relocation will begin as early as August 17, 2020 and remain in place for approximately one year.
• The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion.
• Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
• This work may be longer or shorter than expected.
WHAT TO EXPECT
• Pedestrians will be rerouted from the closed westbound platform on the east side of the tracks to the new westbound platform on the west side of the tracks.
• The new platform will be accessible by way of a ramp near the temporary ticketing machine.
• The east elevator in Kennedy GO Station will be closed effective August 14, 2020, through 2021.
• Access to Kennedy GO Station from Kennedy TTC Station is maintained via the south elevator and pedestrian tunnel, in addition to stairs and pedestrian tunnel within Kennedy Station.
• Transit riders with accessibility needs and mobility aids are encouraged to park at Kennedy Station's South Parking Lot on Transway Crescent to access the new GO platform.
• Wayfinding signage will be in place to help transit riders navigate the pedestrian reroutes in and around the station.
• Expect delays when travelling through the area.
• No impacts to TTC routes.
