What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the ongoing works at intersections along Eglinton Avenue East in support of the future surface stops, crews will be conducting guideway excavation at the Rosemount Drive intersection. 

As early as November 1, 2019 the construction zone will shift to the center of the Rosemount Drive intersection and be in place for approximately six (6) weeks. The north and south bound lanes at Rosemount Drive, north of Eglinton Avenue East will be restricted for the duration of this work, only northbound left and right turns on the south side of Eglinton will be permitted at the intersection.

The work includes cutting and removal of asphalt, excavation, installation of subgrade materials, duct banks installation and track drainage, track slab and stops. 

Hours of Work

• Work is expected to start as early as November 1, 2019 and last for approximately six (6) weeks.

• Guideway work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

• The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion.

• Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

• Cutting and removal of existing asphalt will take place at Eglinton Avenue East and Rosemount Drive. 

• Eglinton Avenue East remains open in both directions at all times.

• Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavation, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.  

• Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when traveling through work zone.

• As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

• North and south bound lanes will be closed at Rosemount Drive, north of Eglinton Avenue East in order to carry out work safely. Only local access will be permitted.

• Westbound right turn and eastbound left turn onto Rosemount Drive will be temporarily removed.

• There will be no north-south through traffic on Rosemount Drive,  

• Only north bound left and right turns on the south side of Eglinton Ave will be permitted at the intersection.

• A portion of sidewalk at the northwest side corner of Rosemount Dr and Eglinton Ave will be closed.

• A minimum of one lane of eastbound and westbound through traffic will be maintained during this work. 

• There will be intermittent north-south crosswalk closures during this work. One north-south crosswalk will remain open at all times.

• Emergency services access will be maintained. 

TTC Impacts

• TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.

• Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
