What Work is Taking Place?
As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will be continuing guideway work in the center of Eglinton Avenue East between Warden Avenue and Birchmount Road. Starting as early as March 16, 2019 for approximately eight (8) months.
The work includes cutting and removal of existing asphalt, excavation, installation of subgrade materials, duct banks installation and track drainage, track slab and stops.
Preparatory work for the reconfiguration will take place as early as Saturday March 16, 2019 starting at 6:00 AM and ending Monday March 18, 2019 at 5:00 AM. This set-up is from Warden Avenue to Thermos Road. The set-up between Thermos Road and Birchmount will be a later date.

- Preliminary work is expected to start as early as Saturday March 16, 2019 starting at 6 AM and ending on Monday March 18, 2019 at 5 AM
- Guideway work between Warden Avenue and Birchmount Road is expected to last approximately eight (8) months.
- Time: guideway work will be performed between the hours of 7 am and 11pm
- Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice.
- Preliminary traffic configuration will be between Warden Avenue and Thermos Road.
- Cutting and removal of existing asphalt in the center of Eglinton Avenue East between Warden Avenue and Birchmount Road. The work will be performed within a protected work zone.
- Eglinton Avenue East remains open in both directions at all times.
- Work will be conducted in stages during this work.
- Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
- Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone.
- Property access may be maintained.
- As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
- A minimum of two lanes of eastbound and west bound through traffic will be maintained during this work.
- During Stage 3, vehicles travelling westbound on Eglinton Avenue will be prohibited from turning left onto Sinnott Road.
- The north-south crosswalks at Sinnott Road will be open during Stage 2.
- The north-south crosswalks at Sinnott Road will be restricted during Stage 3.
- Emergency services access will be maintained
- Pedestrian access will be maintained.
TTC Impacts
- Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
